Superman Returns The Man of Steel is back, but was it worth the trip?

This must be frustrating to be the superhero of the most emblematic of the known universe, but also be the laughingstock of the world from video games. But like any Superman game before it's a sandwich Superman Kryptonite. Where exactly is the Atari 2600 Superman game is still the best ever?

Big Blue Boy Scout is absolutely stacked with forces from the start: super strength, heat vision, freeze breath - it works. You have no life bar. You are indestructible - why would you need? Instead, that's life, bar wisely assigned city itself - do not take damage, but your beloved city can.

Best of all, you can fly, easily the best feature Superman Returns'. Hover in the skies of Metropolis is just as breathtaking as it is fun. Flying over the beautiful landscape - at least on 360, PS2 and Xbox versions are looking long in the tooth - you will hear your trademark cape waving in the wake of your incredible speed. After "Kabloom!" to break the sound barrier, you get ready for the biggest game of Superman all the time.

Unfortunately, this is good as it gets. Superman Returns is about as free-roaming, open, and going to the grocery store, without food. You can fly around all you want, but you can not really spend a lot. More than rushing to be part of a pre-arranged, but largely useless, the main story of events that appear in places on the map every so often, the only activity offered by a futile search to find 100-Quest, glowing cats.
